Becs entró en el mundo de la televisión y el cine con tres largometrajes en dos años. Tiene un don para contar historias, para la comedia y para entender la condición humana. Recientemente ha codirigido y escrito un largometraje, “Im Vai”, varias veces galardonado, y un cortometraje, “Im Hinekura”, que ganó el premio del público y el premio cívico en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Nueva Zelanda en 2017. El primer cortometraje de Becs, “Laundry”, es un corto en clave de humor sobre una madre que tiene problemas para tener una vida sexual debido a las exigencias que supone criar a sus hijas. “Laundry” fue seleccionado como uno de los mejores de Nueva Zelanda en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Nueva Zelanda en 2016 y fue nominad para cuatro premios en el Festival de Cine “Show Me Shorts”: mejor película, mejor directora, mejor guionista, mejor montaje. Becs está graduada en acupuntura y medicina occidental y le apasiona contar historial reales y sinceras, que inspiren, celebren y den voz a las mujeres y a las culturas indígenas.

// Becs has burst onto the film and television scene with three films in two years. She has an instinctual knack for story, comedy and a strong understanding of the human condition. Becs has recently co-directed/wrote a multi award- winning feature lm Vai and short lm Hinekura, which won the audience choice and civic award at the 2019 NZ International Film Fes val. Becs’ first short lm, Laundry – a humourous story about a mother struggling to have a sex life whilst balancing the demands of raising kids. Laundry was selected as part of NZ Best at the 2016 NZ International Film festival and was nominated for four awards at Show Me Shorts, Best Film, Best Director, Best Writer and Best Editor. Becs has worked in the at risk space and has a degree in acupuncture and western medicine, and is incredibly passionate about telling heartfelt and real stories, uplifting and celebrating women and indigenous voices.
