SINOPSIS
Yan es el segundo hijo ilegal nacido en China durante la política "Un solo hijo por familia". Para evitar el castigo del gobierno, los padres de Yan esconden a su hija mayor en el campo y crían a Yan como a una niña. Ya en la adultez, Yan lucha con su identidad de género y con una sociedad conservadora que le trata como a un paria. Su único escape es hacer trompos con el viejo taxi de su padre en aparcamientos abandonados.
// Yan is an illegal second child born during the One-Child policy. To avoid government punishment, Yan's parents hid their oldest daughter in the countryside and raised Yan as a girl. Now a young adult, Yan struggles with his gender identity and being treated as an outcast in a conservative society. His sole escape is drifting his father's old taxi through abandoned parking lots.
BIO-FILMOGRAFÍA
Hanxiong Bo es un director nacido y criado en Beijing que vive en Los Ángeles. Su último corto "DRIFTING" fue premiado en el 67 Festival Internacional de cine de San Sebastián, fue semifinalista en los Student Academy Award y sigue proyectándose en más de cincuenta festivales del mundo y en lugares como el CAA Moebius Showcase 2019, el Mana Contemporary Museum, etc. Bo fue seleccionado para la beca Non Screenwriters y recibió tanto el premio Jack Nicholson Distinguished Student Director como el HFPA Directing Fellowship. Actualmente está rodando su primer largometraje en Los Ángeles. Obtuvo el título de Bellas Artes en Cine y Comunicación Audiovisual en The School of the Art Institute of Chicago y máster en Dirección de películas en la Universidad de California en Los Ángeles.
// Hanxiong Bo is a filmmaker born and raised in Beijing and based in Los Angeles. His latest short film DRIFTING premiered at the 67th San Sebastian International Film Festival, was a Student Academy Award Semifinalist, and continues to be showcased in over 50 film festivals worldwide and places such as the 2019 CAA Moebius Showcase, the Mana Contemporary Museum, etc. Bo was selected to participate in the 2020 Werner Herzog’s Filmmaking Workshop in Colombia. He is also a 2020 Cine Qua Non Screenwriters Lab fellow and the recipient of both the Jack Nicholson Distinguished Student Director Award and the HFPA Directing Fellowship. Bo is currently developing his first feature film in L.A. He received his BFA degree in Film and Media Arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and his MFA degree in Film Directing from the University of California, Los Angeles.
